Immigration

In the late 1800's, immigration to the United States was a high interest to people all over the world. Between 1890 and 1900 alone, over 3,687,000 immigrants arrived at Ellis Island in order to call America their new home. Usually, families would send their most willing son, or husband, to America to find work. The man, who would now be in New York, would then send for the rest of his family. In this period of time, New York had an extremely high population. Up to 20 people were crammed into harsh living conditions in small apartments throughout the city, and paid a miniscule amount of money. People weren't bathed, or fed properly. It was a terrible time.
